REVIEW: NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

I’m going to be pretty brief throughout this review just to save time. Priceline recently had a 40% off all cosmetics sale and the only thing that interested me was NYX’s Soft Matte Lip Creams as I was still on the search for a good matte lipstick.

Price Purchased: $7.80 each (including 40% off)

Right to left: Istanbul, Antwerp

This line comes with 18 different shades, mainly leading towards the pink/nude colours which i’m quite a fan of. However, I only purchased the two as they ran out pretty quickly and with only limited stock left behind.

Neither lipstick nor lip gloss, this matte lip cream is a new kind of lip colour that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish. Soft Matte Lip Cream is surprisingly durable and, unlike some matte lipstick formulas, also moisturising.”

There isn’t much to say about the packaging as they’re quite simple and standard which I have no complaints about. It’s small and very light which is handy for travelling.

From top to bottom: Istanbul, Antwerp.

The formula of this lip product is one i’ve never felt before in a matte lipstick. It’s very creamy and velvety and glides on very nicely. It dries matte and leaves a smooth finish and doesn’t leave the lips feeling dry (thank god). In a way, it feels quite moisturising. My main issue with this product is the scent. It smell’s kind of like a mix of cake and sugar and doughnuts and I personally am just not a big fan of it. This holds decently throughout the day. However, touchups are needed after meals.

  • Inexpensive
  • Smooth finish
  • Not drying
  • Good range of colours
  • Travel friendly

  • Very sweet, sugary smell
  • Needs touchups in between meals

Overall rating: 4/5
