REVIEW: Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

Hello everyone! I FINALLY had the time to do another review which makes me really happy. Uni is actually killing me.

Anyway, today I will be doing a review on Benefit’s famous ‘Roller Lash’ mascara.

Benefit Roller Lash mascara

I purchased this at Myer for $42 AUD because I was on the hunt for a new mascara. Previously, I was using random old mascaras that I had sitting on my makeup desk and I had decided (for health reasons) that I should probably get a new one.

I actually love the packaging of this mascara. Pink has always been my favourite colour. Whenever I enter a Benefit stand, I find the whole place so aesthetically pleasing.

The mascara comes in a regular tube with a rubber handle which provides a better grip. The bottom half of the tube is made out of a shiny type of plastic.

“It’s a roller for lashes! The eye-opening Hook ‘n’ Roll brush grabs, separates, lifts and curls.”

Key claims:

  • Satin finish
  • Water-resistant & easy to remove
  • Holds for 12 hours
  • Long -lasting curl

This product has won an award for the ‘Beauty Heaven Best Mascara 2016’. Many beauty YouTubers and personal friends love this mascara and are loyal fans. This raised my expectations.

This mascara is available in two colours. Black and brown. I have the one in black. I’ve never been a fan of brown mascara.

This product contains provitamin B5 and serin which are known for their lash-conditioning benefits.

The image below are my eyelashes immediately after applying Roller Lash. Yes, I also curled my eyelashes. My natural lashes are quite a long length but face straight down so I always need to use an eyelash curler.

Roller Lash lengthens my eyelashes but does not hold the curl which disappointed me a little. I mean, Roller Lash makes my eyelashes look pretty good but I really want something that would hold the the curl. My biggest issue with this mascara is that it smudges! As the day progresses, the mascara slightly smudges under the eye and it annoys me so much.

This mascara does a decent job at lengthening my lashes but overall, I do not see the hype with this mascara considering how much it smudges and the fact that its unable to hold a curl.

  • Lengthens the eyelashes
  • Rubber handle for better grip
  • Comes in two colours
  • Easy to remove
  • Does not clump

  • Smudges under the eye throughout the day
  • Does not hold a curl

REVIEW: Benefit They’re Real! Push-up Liner

Hello! Hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas and New Year! 🙂

So I’ll just cut right to the chase. I received various presents for Christmas and among them included makeup products which I will be doing separate reviews on. From my aunt, I received my first Benefit product ever and it is their They’re Real! Push-up liner.

I was pretty excited considering I have heard so many great things about Benefit, particularly the POREfessional primer and Hoola Bronzer. Because of this, I had pretty high expectations and boy, was I disappointed.

I believe the price for this product is AUD $39.

Key claims:

  • Waterproof
  • Long wearing
  • Smudge proof
  • Hugs the lash line

I got this eyeliner in the colour beyond brown which I’m happy with since I did not own a brown eyeliner prior.

The packaging of the liner itself comes with an angled shape in which allows one, particularly beginners, to apply winged eyeliner with ease.

The eyeliner has a lid that you twist which I think is great considering it can prevent creating a mess inside your makeup bag.

In order to use the eyeliner, you must twist the base until a tiny amount of gel appears on the tip.

The gel comes out to be quite opaque which is nice if you are more into the matte look. However, I’m not really a huge fan. I think this is one of the few positive things I can say about this product.

Despite the angled tip, this eyeliner is RIDICULOUSLY difficult to apply. This is saying a lot considering I used to find regular felt tip eyeliners quite a challenge to use. The gel on this eyeliner is also very dry which just ends up clumping on your eyelid and flakes off throughout the day. My cousin even approached me and assumed my patchy eyeliner was due to removing fake eyelashes.

The idea behind the flexible tip was great and quite innovative but it just falls short from its claims and I am beyond disappointed. For $39, the product is quite laughable and presents itself to be more of a gimmick.

  • Angled tip
  • Secure lid

  • Very dry gel
  • Clumpy
  • Flakes off throughout the day
  • Expensive
