REVIEW: Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

Hey everyone! I’m back again with another review. I finally finished uni so now I have the time to review more products. Thank god ūüôā

This is a foundation that has SO much hype surrounding it so naturally, I was very excited to try this out and I had very, very high expectations of it. This is what Mecca Maxima has to say on this foundation:

A complexion perfecting foundation that provides natural looking medium to full coverage. Oil free, hydrating makeup.

Key claims:

  • Medium to full coverage
  • Oil free
  • Hydrating makeup
  • Enriched with coconut water to replenish skin
  • Gives a naturally radiant looking skin

You can purchase this at Mecca Maxima for $57 AUD for 30ML worth of product.

My first encounter with this foundation was actually as a gift given to me by my best friend. Unfortunately, the shade she gave me was many shades lighter than my skin tone. Way too light even for my winter shade. So one day, I decided to pop into Mecca Maxima and request for a tester.

I actually love the samples from Mecca Maxima. Even though the sample pot is tiny, I can still get more than 5 uses out of it.

I was colour matched by a beauty consultant and she matched me with the shade “Nude”. This foundation comes in a whopping 18 shades. Your skin is pretty much guaranteed to find a perfect match!

For reference, my MAC shade is NC30 and Nude is just a tiiiiiny smidge lighter than my skin but it still fits well.

This foundation comes in a standard frosted glass pump bottle. I think the packaging on this is just beautiful.

Keep in mind, that the packaging is heavy so if you were to travel, i’d recommend transferring some product into a small pot.

The fourth image was taken an hour after the first one and the sun had moved so the lighting in my room had changed.

My final thoughts:¬†I absolutely LOVE this foundation. It certainly lives up to its claims. It really does give my skin a very nice looking glow without getting oily. It doesn’t crease anywhere which I love considering I usually crease in my smile lines. It’s a buildable foundation and the finish isn’t cakey. It’s also lightweight and does not feel heavy on the face.

I wouldn’t say its entirely matte or dewy but it definitely leans more towards the dewy side. I just love how radiant my skin looks when I wear this and I would definitely be open to purchasing a full sized bottle in the future.

  • Makes the skin look glowy and radiant.
  • Doesn’t make the skin oily.
  • No creasing
  • Buildable
  • Lightweight
  • Beautiful packaging
  • Comes with a pump

  • Heavy bottle
  • A little on the pricey side

REVIEW: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

I only started wearing a full face of makeup around three years ago, and since then I haven’t exactly experimented with a wide range of bronzers. After watching beauty tutorial after beauty tutorial, this product was frequently mentioned and highly praised by many beauty lovers as well as my own peers.

After using the sample version of this bronzer, I received the full sized version as a Christmas gift in the shade medium/deep.

If you are living in Australia, you can purchase this product at Mecca Maxima for $44 AUD.

I really love the packaging of this bronzer, particularly the little detailing around the rim. Although $44 for a bronzer is quite pricey, the size of this product is quite large and will last a very long time. I have been using the sample size for over five months¬†and I still haven’t hit pan!

Ingredients: Talca, Mica, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Zinc Stearate, Boron Nitirde, Sodium Saccharin, Benzyl Benzoate, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum/Fragrance, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Fruit Powder, Benzyl Alcohol, Silica, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742).

This bronzer is said to be infused with anti oxidant-rich cocoa powder. This bronzer has a matte finish that aims to neutralise red colours and even skin tones. It is also Vegan friendly for those who particular about that. As for scents, this bronzer actually does smell like chocolate!

I use this as part of my everyday makeup routine. I find that this bronzer adds a nice warmth to the face and blends really, really nicely. I also like to use this to carve some cheekbones as my face shape leans more towards the round side. The matte finish is great as I am not particularly a fan of bronzers with shimmer.

  • Large amount of product
  • Chocolate scent
  • Blends nicely
  • Beautiful packaging

  • Pricey

REVIEW: Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons

By now, you can probably tell how much I love products by Too Faced cosmetics, given that it dominates my blog. This was a product that I had been waiting to try for a very, very long time and fortunately, I received this as a gift from my cousin from the States and it is Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette from their chocolate collection.

Just like it’s partners, it too comes with it’s own mouth-watering chocolate scent. I love the packaging, mainly due to the fact that i’m obsessed with anything that’s coloured pink.

Description: A decadently sweet cocoa powder infused palette of 16 matte and shimmer eyeshadows. Create the perfect eye looks and naturally boost your mood with antioxidant rich chocolate.

From left to right: Almond Truffle, Satin Sheets, Sprinkles, Molasses Chip, Malted, Cashew Chew, Cotton Candy, Cafe Au Lait, Bordeaux, Mocha, Black Current, Dark Truffle, Pecan Praline, Totally Fetch, Earl Grey, Divinity.

From top to bottom: Almond Truffle, Satin Sheets, Sprinkles, Molasses Chip, Malted, Cashew Chew, Cotton Candy, Cafe Au Lait, Bordeaux, Mocha, Black Current, Dark Truffle, Pecan Praline, Totally Fetch, Earl Grey, Divinity.

I still can’t decide whether I prefer this over the Sweet Peach Palette¬†but I can say that I love this product overall. My most favourite feature are the various shade of browns which I personally prefer to use on a daily basis. Once again, the shadows are well pigmented but I still have the same issue with this as I did with the Sweet Peach Palette in which the pink shades lack pigment. However for the most part, I like this palette very much and would¬†continue using this for my daily makeup routine.

  • Well pigmented
  • Attractive packaging
  • Appealing scent

  • Expensive
  • Pink shades lack pigment

REVIEW: Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush

Since my interest in makeup began, Too Faced cosmetics has found a special place in my heart, being my most favourite western, high-end make up brand. The blush I’ve currently integrated into my daily makeup routine is the Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush which I had purchased at¬†Mecca Maxima for AUD$44. These blushes come in 4 shades;¬†Something About Berry,¬†Candy Glow,¬†Peach¬†Beach¬†and¬†Sparkling Bellini,¬†the fourth being the one I own.

One of the first few things I loved about this product is how the blush was packaged in a cute heart shaped box. However, one of the downsides to it’s exterior its bulkiness.

Description:¬†In this baked, heart shaped blush there are three individual colour swatches. The baking process and multiple colours create dimensional colour to provide the look of younger, brighter, healthier skin. It’s like having Hollywood lighting wherever you go.

Ingredients: Mica, Talc, Nylon-12, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate, Silica, Dimethicone, Propylene Glycol Laurate, Triethylhexanoin, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, PPG-25-Laureth-25, Polyacrylamide, Glyceryl Ethylhexanoate/Stearate/Adipate, Polyglyceryl-2 Dipolyhydroxystearate, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, C13-14 Isoparaffin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Laureth-7, Ethylcellulose, Propylene Glycol Isostearate, Schinziophyton Rautanenii Kernel Oil, Vaccinium Vitis-Idaea Seed Oil, Polysorbate 20, Sorbitan Stearate, Chlorphenesin, Sorbic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Tin Oxide. May Contain/Peut Contenir (+/-): Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Ultramarines (CI 77007) .

The last swatch is the three shades mixed together.

I was intrigued by this blush due to the positive reviews and i’m happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed. This blush is very easy to apply and is effective in achieving that healthy glow that’s perfect for Summer. I feel that this blush is very pigmented and versatile, suitable for any makeup look. I highly recommend this blush for those who love the natural, healthy, and¬†radiant¬†makeup style.

  • Very pigmented
  • Suits¬†a wide range of skin colours
  • Attractive packaging

  • Expensive
  • Bulky/thick packaging

REVIEW: Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette

I realise that it has been some time since this palette had been released, however i’ve gotten quite familiar with it enough to do a full review on it. I purchased the Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette at Mecca Maxima a few days after its launch for AUD$72. The price is a little steep but I just couldn’t resist!

Description: Be as sweet as a peach with these fresh-picked shades infused with the juicy scent and antioxidant-rich essence of peach. Create endless looks with 18 shades of peachy pinks, corals, bronzes, and pops of purples that will have you looking summer-fresh year-round. Includes our signature Glamour Guide with three looks to get you started.

From left to right: Talk Derby to Me, Summer Yum, Puree, Caramelized, Georgia, Peaches ‘N’ Cream, Delectable, Peach Pit, Bellini, Candied Peach, Cobbler, Nectar, ‘Charmed, I’m Sure’, Tempting, Bless Her Heart, Just Peachy, Luscious, White Peach.

This palette comes with 7 matte shades and 11 shimmer shades. Once opened, the scent of peaches hits you and I absolutely love it. It makes you wanna eat it!¬†Although¬†the majority of the shadows are pigmented, I am disappointed with the lack pigment within¬†the pink shades (Georgia & Candied Peach). Despite this minor fall back, I do believe that this eyeshadow palette is probably one of my most favourite due to its colour combinations and strong pigment. I’d have to say my most favourite shades are ‘Bellini‘ and ‘Luscious‘.

This palette is perfect for summer and it offers you enough variety to create diverse looks, whether you’d like something casual for daily wear or something smouldering for evening occasions.

  • Very pigmented
  • Smells beautiful
  • Offers variation¬†colours

  • Expensive
  • Pink shades lack pigment
  • Limited edition
